I love the flexibility with hours and how easy it is to get trained in different positions.
What I wish was different
I feel as though there was a lot of expectation placed immediately on the newer team members.
Advice
It is a lot more work than it seems, but in the right position, it can be highly fulfilling.

I was an On-Demand TM which meant I could choose my own hours. Management was also adamant about taking legally mandated breaks on time.

I wish management and HR had been more accessible.

What I liked
I liked getting to meet people from all different backgrounds than me! I think it really improved the way that I am able to interact with others and remain respectful even in times of distress or discomfort.
What I wish was different
I wish that my hours were more regular and earlier in the day. That was my fault though, for not clarifying to my supervisor what I wanted.
Advice
Working in retail is a must if you want to one day make the world a better place to be. There's no slice of humanity more broad than in a Target. You'll meet everyone in every mood, season of life, and place of mind.

What I liked
I liked getting the firsthand experience of watching products move from distributor to customer. It was really eye-opening to get a retail experience that used my technology knowledge to assist people.
What I wish was different
I wish that there was less work that wasn't related to my position; oftentimes I was rearranging the toys and books section even those technically aren't part of the electronics section.
Advice
Definitely do it if you need a good summer job, it helped me pay for summer classes and have some spending money on top of that

Flexible schedule for the most part, accepted most availability requests as long as weekends were flexible, very accepting of students, nice hourly rate
What I wish was different
Didn’t always give the hours people needed, sometimes 8hours or less a week. Management was dismissive, sometimes dismissive and rarely accepted time off requests.
Advice
Please be an advocate for yourself, do not let target take over your life. You can learn a lot from targets business model and style but know when to draw the line between work and life.

The leadership was terrible. Very few managers or "team leads" knew what they were doing. They have a quick turnover rate

Set your boundaries with your schedule on day one with HR. Come in on time, and don't close on Saturdays.
